Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about your pregnancy journey.

How does the Mamma Track Due Date Calculator work?

Our calculator uses a refined version of Naegele's Rule, the standard method used by healthcare professionals. It starts with the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP), adds 280 days (which is 40 weeks), and then intelligently adjusts this calculation based on your specific cycle length. Because the standard rule assumes a 28-day cycle, our adjustment provides a more personalized and accurate Estimated Due Date (EDD).

How accurate is a due date calculator?

An LMP-based due date calculator is a highly reliable estimation and serves as the standard starting point for most pregnancies. However, it's important to remember that only about 5% of babies are born on their exact due date. It is more helpful to think of it as a 'due week.' The most precise dating is typically confirmed via an early ultrasound which measures the baby's size (crown-rump length). Your doctor may adjust your EDD based on this first-trimester scan.

What if I have an irregular menstrual cycle or don't know my LMP?

This is very common. If your cycles are irregular, you can input your best average cycle length for a reasonable estimate. However, for highly irregular cycles (e.g., varying by more than a week each month) or if you don't know your LMP date at all, an early ultrasound will provide the most accurate due date. Our calculator is a great starting point, but a doctor's confirmation is always best in these cases.

What do the different milestones in the results mean?

The timeline highlights key dates in your journey:

End of First Trimester (13 Weeks): Marks the completion of the most critical development period and a significant drop in miscarriage risk.
Approximate Viability (24 Weeks): This is the point where a baby has a chance of survival if born prematurely, though they would require significant medical support.
Considered Full Term (37 Weeks): From this week on, your baby's lungs are considered mature and they are ready for birth, even though your due date is still a few weeks away.

How can I share my due date results?

It's easy to share the exciting news! After calculating your due date, simply click the 'Share with Partner' button.

On a mobile device, this will open your phone's native share menu, allowing you to send the results directly through apps like WhatsApp, Messenger, or SMS.
On a desktop computer, it will automatically copy a summary of your results to your clipboard. You'll see a confirmation, and then you can easily paste the message into an email, message, or social media post.
